One of the greatest gifts you can give a friend is to bring them before God by name. These prayers help you do exactly that.
Lord, my friend is in the middle of something brutal right now, and I do not have the words to fix it. I do not even have the words to comfort them properly. But You do. You are the God of all comfort, and 2 Corinthians 1:4 says You comfort us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. Comfort my friend today. Meet them in the messβnot with platitudes, but with Your presence. Give them the strength to get out of bed and face the day. Put people around them who show up instead of just saying "let me know if you need anything." Help me to be that kind of friend. Show me what they actually need, whether it is a meal, a phone call, or just someone sitting with them in silence. Do not let this storm define them. Use it to refine them and draw them closer to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
God, my friend is lonely, and it breaks my heart because loneliness is one of the most painful things a person can carry. It sits heavy and it lies loud, telling them nobody cares. But that is not true. I care, and more importantly, You care. Deuteronomy 31:8 says You go before them and You will be with them. You will never leave them or forsake them. They do not need to be afraid or discouraged. Make that promise real to them right now. Send them a text from someone unexpected. Open a door to a community where they feel welcomed, not tolerated. Break the cycle of isolation that keeps them pulling away from the very connection they crave. Help me to reach out more often, to be intentional and not just assume they know I am here. Let them feel the warmth of genuine belonging, starting today. You are the God who sets the lonely in families. Do that for my friend. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Father, today I come to You not with heaviness but with gratitude. Something good has happened for my friend, and I want to celebrate it with You before I celebrate it with them. Thank You for this blessing. Thank You for showing up in their story in a tangible way. James 1:17 says every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights. This is from You. I pray this season of goodness deepens their faith rather than making them forgetful of the Giver. Protect them from the jealousy of others and from guilt over receiving something wonderful. Help me to rejoice genuinely with them, the way Romans 12:15 calls us to rejoice with those who rejoice. Remove any comparison or envy from my own heart. Their win is not my loss. Multiply this blessing and use it to draw them closer to You. Let them never forget where it came from. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Lord, my friend used to walk closely with You, and somewhere along the way the distance grew. I do not know if it was hurt, doubt, distraction, or all three. But I know You have not moved. You are still right there, waiting. Luke 15:4 asks, "Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?" Go after my friend. Be relentless in Your pursuit. Do not let pride or past wounds keep them from coming back. Remove every barrier between them and Your grace. Put a holy restlessness in their heart that the world cannot satisfy. If I am supposed to be part of bringing them home, give me the words and the timing. Help me to love them without preaching at them, to live my faith in front of them in a way that makes them hungry for what I have. You are the Good Shepherd. Bring them back. In Jesus' name, Amen.
