Prayers for Intercession

Stand in the gap for others and lift their needs before the throne of God with bold, faithful prayer.

A Prayer for Those Who Are Hurting

Father, I come before You today not for myself but for someone who is hurting. You know their name, their situation, and the weight they are carrying. First Timothy 2:1 urges me to make petitions and intercessions for all people, and I am interceding right now for the person on my heart. Meet them where they are, Lord. Comfort them with a comfort that goes beyond human words. If they are in physical pain, bring healing. If they are emotionally shattered, bring peace. If they are spiritually dry, pour out Your living water. I cannot fix what is broken in their life, but You can. I cannot be present with them every moment, but Your Spirit can. Ephesians 6:18 tells me to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests, and I am doing that now with urgency and faith. Surround this person with Your angels. Send the right people to encourage them at the right time. Remind them that they are not alone and that someone is praying for them right now. Be their strength, Lord. Be their hope. Amen.

A Prayer for Family Members Far from God

Lord, my heart aches for the family members who do not yet know You. I have watched them walk away from faith, or perhaps they never had it to begin with, and I feel helpless. But James 5:16 says the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective, and I am claiming that promise right now. I may not be able to change their hearts, but You can. Soften the soil of their souls. Remove the barriers — pride, hurt, misinformation, apathy — that keep them from seeing Your love. Send people into their lives who will plant seeds of truth at the perfect moment. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to simply live out my faith in front of them. Ezekiel 22:30 says You looked for someone to stand in the gap, and I am standing in the gap for my family today. I will not stop praying. I will not lose hope. I believe that Your arm is not too short to save and that no heart is too hard for Your grace to penetrate. Save my loved ones, Father. I trust You with the timing. Amen.

A Prayer for Leaders and Those in Authority

Heavenly Father, First Timothy 2:1 specifically calls me to pray for kings and all those in authority, so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. I lift up every leader in my life — in government, in the church, in my workplace, and in my community. Give them wisdom that surpasses their own understanding. Give them courage to make the right decisions even when they are unpopular. Surround them with godly counsel and protect them from the temptation to abuse their power. For leaders who do not know You, I pray that You would draw them to Yourself. For leaders who claim Your name, I pray that they would walk in integrity and humility. Ephesians 6:18 reminds me to be persistent in prayer, and I commit to praying for the leaders in my life regularly, not just when things go wrong. The weight of leadership is heavy, and many leaders carry burdens that no one sees. Strengthen them, Lord. Protect their families. Guard their hearts. Use them as instruments of Your justice and peace. Amen.

A Prayer for the Lost and the Broken

God, I lift up the people in this world who feel utterly lost and completely broken. The ones sleeping on the streets tonight. The ones battling addictions they cannot escape. The ones who have given up hope and see no way out. The ones who have never heard Your name or have heard it only in anger. Ezekiel 22:30 says You sought someone to stand before You in the gap on behalf of the land, and I am standing in that gap right now. Your heart breaks for the broken, and I want my heart to break for them too. James 5:16 tells me that prayer is powerful and effective, so I am praying with power and expectation. Send workers into the harvest, Lord. Mobilize Your church to be Your hands and feet. Open doors for the gospel to reach the unreached. Provide resources for the destitute and hope for the hopeless. I cannot reach them all, but You can. Use me where You will, and use Your people everywhere to be agents of Your love. Let no one be beyond the reach of Your grace. Amen.
