Release the worries of the day and rest in the arms of the One who never sleeps.
Father, the day is done and I'm so tired, but my mind won't stop racing. The worries of today and the anxieties of tomorrow are circling my thoughts like vultures, and sleep feels impossible. Lord, I need Your peace right now. Psalm 4:8 says, "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." I claim that promise tonight. Quiet my thoughts one by one. Slow my heartbeat. Release the tension in my body. Remind me that there is nothing I can solve at 2 AM that can't wait until morning. As Matthew 11:28 invites, I come to You, weary and burdened, and I receive Your rest. I'm laying down every concern, every to-do list, every unresolved conversation. I'm placing them all at the foot of Your throne and choosing to leave them there. Guard my mind as I sleep. Let me wake refreshed and renewed, ready to face a new day with Your strength. As Psalm 127:2 reminds me, You grant sleep to those You love. I am loved. I receive Your gift of rest tonight. Amen.
Lord, I am exhausted. Night after night, sleep evades me. I toss and turn, stare at the ceiling, count the hours slipping away, and dread the alarm that comes too soon. My body is begging for rest, but my mind refuses to cooperate. Father, this chronic sleeplessness is affecting every area of my life — my health, my mood, my relationships, my ability to focus. I need You to intervene. Proverbs 3:24 promises that when I lie down, my sleep will be sweet. Lord, make my sleep sweet again. If there is an underlying medical issue, lead me to the right doctor. If there is anxiety driving this insomnia, address it at the root. If there is a spiritual battle happening over my rest, fight it on my behalf. As Psalm 127:2 says, You grant sleep to those You love. I know You love me, Father, so I ask for this gift tonight. Calm the cortisol, quiet the adrenaline, and let my body and brain finally surrender to the rest they desperately need. I trust You to watch over me while I sleep. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Heavenly Father, as I pull up the covers and close my eyes, I want to surrender this day to You — the good parts and the hard parts, the victories and the failures. Thank You for walking with me through every moment. Forgive me where I fell short. I release any anger, frustration, or resentment that I'm carrying from today. I choose to go to sleep with a clean heart. As Psalm 4:8 assures me, I can lie down in peace because You keep me safe. Lord, I don't need to replay today's events or rehearse tomorrow's challenges. You are already in tomorrow, and You've got it covered. As Matthew 11:28 says, You offer rest to the weary. I accept that offer right now. Let sleep come quickly and let it be deep. Restore my body, my mind, and my spirit as I rest. Station Your angels around my home and my family. Let nothing disturb our peace tonight. And when morning comes, let the first thought on my mind be gratitude for Your faithful presence. Goodnight, Father. I love You. Amen.
Dear God, my little one is struggling to fall asleep tonight. Maybe they're scared of the dark, or their mind is busy with worries that are too big for their small shoulders. Lord, You are the perfect Father, and You love my child even more than I do. Wrap them in Your peace right now. As Proverbs 3:24 promises, let them lie down and not be afraid — let their sleep be sweet. Calm their active imagination. Replace any fear with a deep awareness of Your protective presence. Help me to be patient in these nighttime moments instead of frustrated. Give me the right words to comfort and reassure. As Psalm 4:8 declares, You alone make us dwell in safety. Let my child feel that safety deep in their bones. Station Your angels around their bed. Give them beautiful dreams that remind them how loved they are. And Lord, as they grow, teach them to turn to You in the night — to make prayer their first response when sleep won't come. Thank You for the gift of this precious child. Watch over them tonight. As Matthew 11:28 invites, give them rest. Amen.
"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."
"In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat — for he grants sleep to those he loves."
"When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet."
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
