Place your upcoming procedure and recovery in the capable hands of the Great Physician.
Father, tomorrow I go into surgery and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. The unknown of what happens when I'm under anesthesia, the vulnerability of lying on that operating table — it's a lot to process. But Your Word says in Isaiah 41:10, "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God." So I'm choosing to hold on to that promise right now. Lord, go before me into that operating room. Be with the surgeon — steady their hands, sharpen their focus, and guide every incision. Be with the anesthesiologist, the nurses, and every member of the medical team. Give them wisdom and precision. And Lord, be with me. Calm my anxious heart as I count backward and drift off. Let the last thought on my mind be the peace that comes from knowing You are in control. As Psalm 46:1 declares, You are my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. I am not alone in this. I trust You with my body and my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Great Physician, I lift up the surgeon who will operate on me to You today. They have years of training and experience, but ultimately every good gift comes from You — including the skill in their hands. Lord, guide those hands with supernatural precision. Let nothing be missed, and let no mistake be made. Give them clarity of mind throughout the entire procedure, no matter how long it takes. Remove any distraction or fatigue. As Psalm 41:3 says, You sustain the sick on their bed — and I believe You sustain them through the hands of the medical professionals You have placed in their path. I pray for the entire surgical team — that they would work together seamlessly, communicate clearly, and catch anything unusual before it becomes a problem. Lord, if this surgeon doesn't know You, let my life be a testimony to them. And if they do know You, strengthen their faith as they serve. Thank You for the gift of modern medicine. Thank You that healing comes in many forms. I entrust myself to You and to the hands You have chosen. Amen.
Lord, the surgery is over and I'm grateful to be on this side of it. Thank You for bringing me through. But now the recovery begins, and honestly, this part feels just as hard. The pain, the limited mobility, the dependence on others for basic things — it's humbling and frustrating. Father, Jeremiah 30:17 says, "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds." I claim that promise over my body right now. Accelerate the healing process in ways that surprise even my doctors. Reduce the pain and inflammation. Prevent any infection or complication. Give my body the strength to recover fully and completely. Lord, also heal my spirit during this time. It's easy to get discouraged when progress is slow. Remind me that recovery is not a straight line — there will be good days and hard days. Give me patience with myself and gratitude for every small improvement. Help the people caring for me — my family, friends, and medical staff — to not grow weary. Thank You for the gift of healing. I rest in You. Amen.
Father, someone I love deeply is about to undergo surgery, and I feel so helpless. I can't be in that operating room. I can't control the outcome. All I can do is pray — and so I pray with everything in me. Lord, be with them. Wrap Your arms around them and replace their fear with Your perfect peace. As Isaiah 41:10 promises, strengthen them and help them. Uphold them with Your righteous right hand. Guide every member of the surgical team. Give the surgeon exceptional skill and attention to detail. Let the procedure go smoothly and the results exceed expectations. I pray against every complication, every unexpected issue, every moment of danger. Psalm 46:1 says You are an ever-present help in trouble — be present in that operating room in a tangible way. And Lord, be with those of us in the waiting room too. The waiting is its own kind of suffering. Calm our fears, comfort our hearts, and give us good news when the surgeon walks through those doors. We love this person so much, but You love them even more. We trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness."
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord."
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
