Prayer for Strength

When you've reached the end of your own strength, God's is just beginning. These prayers will help you lean on His power, endurance, and unwavering faithfulness.

A Prayer When You Feel Like You Can't Keep Going

God, I'm running on empty. Every day feels like a marathon and I'm barely making it to the finish line before I have to start again. My energy is gone. My motivation is gone. Honestly, some days my hope feels gone too. But Isaiah 40:29-31 says You give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak. Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength — they will soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint. I'm not soaring right now. I'm barely walking. But that verse says even walkers get Your strength, and that's what I need. Not a burst of supernatural energy, but the quiet power to take the next step. Carry what I can't carry. Do what I can't do. Be strong where I am weak, because as 2 Corinthians 12:9 promises, Your power is made perfect in weakness. I'm plenty weak enough for Your power to show up. Please let it show up today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer for Strength to Face a Difficult Conversation

Lord, there's a conversation I've been avoiding, and I can't put it off any longer. My stomach knots just thinking about it. I don't know how the other person will react, and I'm afraid of conflict, rejection, or making things worse. But I know that avoiding it isn't making anything better either. Give me the courage to speak the truth in love, just as Ephesians 4:15 instructs. Help me choose words that are honest without being hurtful, firm without being harsh. Guard my tone and my motives. I don't want to win an argument — I want to honor You and love this person well, even if we disagree. Proverbs 15:1 reminds me that a gentle answer turns away wrath, so give me gentleness even when emotions run high. And if this conversation doesn't go the way I hope, give me the strength to trust You with the outcome. I can control my faithfulness but not the results. Joshua 1:9 says to be strong and courageous. I'm choosing courage today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer for Strength When You're Carrying Everyone Else's Burdens

Father, I've been the strong one for so long — the one who holds it together, the one everyone leans on, the one who says I'm fine when I'm falling apart inside. I don't resent the people I carry, but I'm tired. I wasn't designed to be everyone's savior — only You hold that title. Matthew 11:28-30 is Your invitation to me: Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. I'm coming to You now, not as the strong one, but as the tired one. Teach me the difference between serving others and destroying myself. Give me permission to rest without guilt. Show me how to set boundaries that are loving, not selfish. And remind me, as Galatians 6:2 says, that we are to bear one another's burdens — that means mine don't have to be carried alone either. Strengthen me from the inside out. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer for Strength in a Season of Waiting

God, I'm stuck in the waiting and it feels unbearable. The prayer hasn't been answered. The door hasn't opened. The situation hasn't changed. And every day of silence makes me wonder if You've forgotten about me. But I know from Habakkuk 2:3 that the vision awaits its appointed time — it hastens to the end and will not lie. Though it tarry, I am to wait for it, because it will surely come. Waiting isn't nothing. Waiting is an act of faith, and right now it's the hardest act of faith I've ever practiced. Give me the strength not to force doors You haven't opened or to run ahead of Your timing. Help me to be faithful in the in-between — to keep showing up, keep trusting, keep worshipping even when the breakthrough hasn't come. Psalm 27:14 says to wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord. I'm choosing to wait. Strengthen my heart while I do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
