How to Pray Intercessory Prayer

Loving Father, I come before You to intercede for my family members, bringing them before Your throne as an act of love. I lift up those I'm concerned about, placing them in Your hands, believing that You care about them even more than I do. For the ones who don't know You yet, I ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Soften their hearts toward the gospel. Send believers across their paths who can speak truth in love. Open their eyes to see their need for You and Your redemptive power. For family members who are struggling—with addiction, mental illness, broken relationships, or spiritual confusion—I ask for Your healing, restoration, and breakthrough. Give them wisdom, strength, and the courage to turn toward You. Protect them from the schemes of the enemy. Surround them with Your love. For those who are already walking with You, deepen their faith, strengthen their commitment, and help them grow in spiritual maturity. Bind my family together with bonds of love and unity. Use us to bless and support one another. Amen.

Sovereign God, I intercede for the leaders of my nation and the world. I lift up those in positions of power and authority, asking that You would guide them toward justice, righteousness, and the common good. Give them wisdom to make decisions that honor You and serve their people. I pray for our elected officials, judges, military leaders, and administrators. Grant them discernment to understand complex issues and courage to stand for what is right even when it is costly. Guide the conscience of those in power. Amen.

God of all nations, I intercede for people who are far from You, who have never heard the gospel or who have heard it but rejected it. I bring before You the millions who live and die without ever knowing the love of Christ, the forgiveness He offers, the redemption He won on the cross. For the unreached—those in remote areas, hostile countries, and spiritual darkness—I ask that You would send laborers into Your harvest. Raise up missionaries and evangelists who are willing to risk everything to bring Your message to the ends of the earth. For the nominally Christian—those who claim faith but don't truly know You—I ask for genuine conversion, for hearts that are awakened to their need for authentic relationship with You. For the hostile, skeptical, and resistant—those who actively reject You—I ask for circumstances and relationships that would make them open to reconsidering, for dreams and visions that point them toward truth, for Your Spirit to work in ways that break through their resistance. Give me a burden for the lost that moves me to speak, to pray, to live in such a way that I point others toward Jesus. Amen.

Compassionate Father, I bring before You those who are suffering from illness, pain, grief, and loss. I intercede for people who are fighting cancer, battling depression, recovering from surgery, or dealing with chronic conditions. I ask that You would be present with them in their suffering, that You would grant them strength to endure, that You would give their medical teams wisdom and skill. For the terminally ill, I ask for peace in their final days and assurance of Your love. I intercede for families who are watching loved ones suffer—for the emotional, spiritual, and physical toll this takes on them. Give them grace, hope, and support from community. I intercede for those grieving loss, asking that You would comfort them, bind up their broken hearts, and help them move forward in their grief without losing faith. I intercede for those who are suffering not from physical illness but from emotional and spiritual wounds—depression, anxiety, trauma, shame. Bring healing to the deepest parts of them. Connect them with help and support. Use their suffering to draw them closer to You and to deepen their compassion for others. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I intercede for the church worldwide and for believers everywhere. I pray that we would be unified in You, that doctrinal differences would not destroy the bonds of love that hold us together. I intercede for pastors and church leaders, asking that You would give them wisdom, integrity, spiritual power, and hearts that are genuinely concerned for the flock. Protect them from temptation, from burnout, and from becoming hardened. I pray for younger believers who are just beginning their spiritual journey—give them mentors, anchor them in Scripture, and help them develop a strong foundation of faith. I intercede for mature believers who have walked with You for decades—keep their passion alive, prevent them from becoming cynical or stale in their faith, and use their spiritual depth to strengthen others. I pray for persecuted believers suffering for their faith around the world. Give them supernatural courage and peace in their persecution. Advance Your kingdom through their testimony. I intercede that the church would live out its calling to be a light to the world—to preach the gospel, to care for the poor, to pursue justice, and to model the love of Christ. Amen.
