A Prayer for Baptism

God, I'm about to walk into this water and declare to everyone watching that I belong to You. I'm nervous and excited and honored all at once. I'm thinking about what this means — that the old me is being washed away, that I'm dying to myself and rising up into new life in You. When I go under, I'm symbolizing the death of my old way of living. When I come up, I'm declaring the resurrection that Jesus bought for me. Help me be fully present in this moment. Help me feel the weight and the joy of what I'm committing to. Help me remember this day — not just the ceremony, but the covenant I'm making with You. Give me courage. Give me conviction. Help me walk forward in this public declaration. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Jesus, I'm watching this child make a decision to follow You. They're standing at the water's edge with courage that takes my breath away. They're claiming faith as their own. They're saying yes to You in front of everyone. I'm praying protection over this child's life and faith. I'm asking that You keep them grounded in their faith as they grow. I'm asking that You surround them with community that strengthens their decision. I'm asking that You work in their heart — revealing more of Yourself, deepening their love for You, guiding them toward wise choices. Use their baptism as a marker — a day they can remember when their faith was tested, a promise they made that they can hold onto. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God, this person is coming back. After years of walking away, after seasons of doubt and distance, they're walking back into the water. They're choosing Jesus again.
