Prayer for My Brother

Whether your brother is thriving or struggling, nearby or far away — lifting him up in prayer is one of the most powerful gifts you can give. These prayers cover his faith, his family, his hardships, and God's deep purpose for his life.

A General Prayer for My Brother

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart full of love and gratitude for my brother. You knit him together in his mother's womb, You know every hair on his head, and You have numbered his days with purpose and care. I thank You for placing him in my life — for the shared memories, the laughter, the arguments we've worked through, and the bond that only brothers and sisters can know. Lord, I ask that You draw my brother close to Your heart today. Wherever he is — whether sitting at a desk, driving down a highway, or lying awake at night — let him feel Your nearness in a way that quiets his soul.

Strengthen him, Lord. Give him a spirit of courage and a mind anchored in Your truth. Protect him from the lies of the enemy that would whisper he is not enough, not loved, or without hope. Let the words of Romans 8:38–39 ring true in his life — that nothing can separate him from Your love. Guard his heart against bitterness, pride, and fear. Fill him instead with wisdom, kindness, and an awareness of Your hand at work in his circumstances. Bless the work of his hands. Prosper his path. And above all, Lord, keep him tethered to You — because I know that a man rooted in Your grace is a man who can weather any storm. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer for a Brother Who Has Walked Away from Faith

Lord God, my heart aches for my brother. I remember when faith was something we shared, something woven into the fabric of our family — and I don't fully understand the road that led him away. But You do. You see every wound that made him doubt, every question no one answered, every moment when the church failed him or life crushed the faith he once held. Father, I am not asking You to force him back. I am asking You to pursue him — with the relentless, patient, transforming love that You have always shown to those who wander. Let him be like the prodigal son, who eventually came to himself and remembered the Father's house.

Send people across his path who will speak truth without judgment, who will love him well and point him gently back to You. Soften what has hardened in him. Heal whatever hurt caused him to turn away. If it was hypocrisy he saw in others, show him the real Jesus — the one who ate with sinners and called the outcasts beloved. If it was doubt, give him honest seekers who have wrestled with the same questions and found You faithful on the other side. And in the quiet moments of his life, when he is alone and the noise fades, let Your Spirit whisper to him. Let him feel the pull of something true. Let him remember. And bring him home. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer for a Brother Going Through Hard Times

Father, my brother is in a hard season right now, and I feel the weight of it alongside him. Whether it's financial pressure, a broken relationship, a job that's fallen through, health challenges, or just the kind of deep weariness that life can bring — he is carrying more than I know. Lord, meet him right where he is. Don't let him feel alone in this. Send Your comfort like a warm current into the coldest corner of his heart. Remind him of Psalm 34:18 — that You are near to the brokenhearted, that You save those whose spirits are crushed. He may not feel near to You right now, but You are near to him.

Give him the strength to take one step, and then another. Give him wisdom to make the right decisions in the middle of uncertainty. Surround him with good people who will show up — who will bring a meal, say a kind word, or just sit with him so he doesn't face this alone. Protect his mind from despair and his heart from hopelessness. Open unexpected doors, Lord — provision he didn't plan for, breakthrough in places that looked closed, favor from people who have the power to help him. Let this hard season produce something beautiful — endurance, depth, and a testimony that others will one day find hope in. Carry my brother through this, Lord. He is loved by me, and even more by You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer for a Brother's Marriage and Family

Lord, I lift up my brother's marriage and family to You today. You designed marriage as a covenant of love, sacrifice, and mutual flourishing — and I pray that what You intended for this union would be fully realized in my brother's home. Bless his marriage with deep affection and enduring friendship. In the seasons when romance fades and the hard work of commitment sets in, let them choose each other again and again — not out of duty alone, but out of a love that grows and deepens with time. Guard them against the slow erosion of busyness, distraction, and unresolved wounds.

Give my brother the wisdom to lead his family with humility and grace. Help him be the kind of husband who listens before he speaks, who apologizes when he is wrong, and who shows his spouse she is treasured. Let him be present — not just physically in the house, but emotionally available to the people who need him most. If there are children in his home, Lord, make him a father who reflects Your character — loving but firm, patient, full of encouragement, and quick to point his kids toward You. Where there is tension in his marriage, bring healing. Where there is distance, bring closeness. Let their home be a place of warmth, laughter, and genuine faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer of Blessing Over My Brother

Lord, I speak blessing over my brother today — the kind of blessing that flows from Your throne and cannot be reversed by any circumstance, any person, or any enemy. I bless him with the knowledge of Your love — deep, wide, high, and long, beyond all he could ask or imagine. I bless him with wisdom that comes down from above — pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of good fruits. I bless him with purpose — the sense that his days are not random, that You have written a story for his life that is worth living to the very last page.

I bless his body with health and strength. I bless his mind with clarity and peace. I bless his spirit with hunger for You — a holy restlessness that drives him back to Your Word and Your presence again and again. I bless his work — that the labor of his hands would produce fruit that lasts. I bless his relationships — that he would be a man who gives love generously and receives it graciously. I bless his future — that what lies ahead would be marked by Your faithfulness, even in the chapters he cannot yet see. Numbers 6:24–26 says may the Lord bless and keep him, may He make His face shine upon him, and be gracious to him, may He lift up His countenance upon him and give him peace. That is my prayer for my brother today and every day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
