Prayer for Freedom from Addiction

Father, I come to You today with a heavy heart, acknowledging the chains that bind me. I confess that I cannot break free on my own strength, and I surrender this addiction to You completely. Thank You for sending Jesus to break the power of sin and death in my life. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to fill the empty places where this addiction has lived. Give me clarity of mind, strength in my body, and peace in my spirit. Help me to recognize the triggers and lies that lead me toward destruction, and replace them with Your truth. Surround me with wise counsel and supportive people who will help me walk this path of freedom. When I am weak, remind me that Your grace is sufficient. I choose today to trust You with my recovery. Lord, I need a supernatural intervention. I've tried willpower, self-discipline, and everything I know, yet I keep returning to what destroys me. I'm asking for a miracle—not just willpower, but a complete heart transformation. Renew my mind according to Romans 12:2. Help me to see myself as You see me: loved, redeemed, and worthy of freedom. Break the shame that whispers I'll never change. Replace my desires with a hunger for You that surpasses any temporary escape. Give me courage to be honest about my struggles without hiding. Connect me with people, counselors, or communities that can support my journey. Make my victory a testimony that glorifies Your name and gives hope to others still trapped. I trust that You are working in me even when I cannot see it. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I lift up someone I love who is struggling with addiction. They may not yet be ready to pray for themselves, so I stand in the gap for them today. Open their eyes to see the truth about how this addiction is harming their life and their relationship with You. Soften their heart toward repentance and help them feel the weight of Your love rather than condemnation. Protect them from deeper despair, and surround them with voices of truth. Guide me in how to love them well without enabling their destructive choices. Give me wisdom, patience, and boundaries. Plant seeds of hope in their heart that freedom is possible. Lord, only You can transform a human heart; I release them fully into Your hands, trusting Your timeline and Your methods. Thank You for Your relentless pursuit of the lost. In Jesus's name, Amen.

I'm asking You to be my companion in those vulnerable moments. Strengthen me before the temptation arrives. Give me practical tools: show me who to call, what to do, where to go when I'm weak. Help me build a new rhythm for my life—one that includes rest, joy, and genuine connection instead of false comfort. Teach me to sit with uncomfortable feelings instead of medicating them. Speak to me through Scripture, worship, nature, or the voices of people who care about me. When I fall, help me get back up quickly without shame derailing my progress. Thank You for Your patience with my recovery process. Make me a testimony of Your transforming power. Amen.

I declare that the power of Jesus's resurrection is working in me, breaking every chain and every stronghold. I declare that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and I will honor it with my choices. I declare that I am walking into freedom—not because I am strong, but because Christ in me is stronger than any pull toward destruction. I declare that my past does not determine my future; redemption is real and it is mine. I declare that I will use my journey from captivity to freedom to help others see hope. I declare that God's mercy is new every morning, and I will not carry yesterday's failures into today. I declare victory, healing, and wholeness over my life. I am free in Jesus Christ. Amen.
