Prayer for Tongues

Father, I come before You with an open heart, asking for the gift of tongues. I believe You desire to give good gifts to Your children, and I trust that speaking in Your Spirit is one of those beautiful gifts. As I surrender my voice, my mind, and my will to You, I ask that You fill me with Your Holy Spirit in a fresh and powerful way. Remove any fear, doubt, or hesitation that holds me back. Grant me boldness to pray in the Spirit, even when I don't understand the words forming on my lips. I trust that You are praying through me, interceding for needs I cannot articulate in my own language. Help me receive this gift with gratitude and use it to draw closer to You and intercede for others. Fill my prayer time with the reality of Your presence and power. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Holy Spirit, come afresh upon me today. I acknowledge that You are the giver of all spiritual gifts, and I submit myself fully to Your work in my life. Lord, I lift to You my sister in Christ who is seeking the gift of tongues. Just as Peter and John laid hands on the Samaritans to receive the Holy Spirit, I ask for a supernatural impartation in her life. Remove any confusion she carries about this gift. If she has heard conflicting teachings or witnessed misuse of tongues, heal those wounds and give her a clear, biblical understanding. Open her ears to hear testimonies of how this gift has transformed others' prayer lives and intimacy with You. Grant her spiritual hunger and holy courage. Whether she receives tongues immediately or through a gradual unfolding, help her to trust Your timing and Your faithfulness. Bless her prayer journey. Give her mentors and community who can encourage and guide her. And through her willingness to be vulnerable before You, may she experience depths of worship and intercession she's never known. Father, I confess that I struggle to surrender control when it comes to speaking in tongues. My rational mind wants to understand every word, and that very need for understanding is holding me back from this gift. Forgive me for relying too heavily on intellect and not enough on faith and trust in You. Help me to embrace the mystery of Your Spirit's work. Teach me that faith often means moving forward without complete understanding, just as Abraham went to a land he didn't know. As I choose to open my mouth in faith, help me to silence the internal critic, the voice that tells me I'm being foolish or uncontrolled. Replace that voice with the confidence that Your Spirit is trustworthy, that You are not a God of confusion but of love and power and a sound mind. I declare today that I am filled with the Holy Spirit, and spiritual gifts are my inheritance as a daughter of God.
