A Prayer for Pornography Addiction

God, I am back here again. I promised myself it would not happen again. I told You I was done. I broke that promise. I broke my covenant with You and with the people who love me. The shame is almost unbearable. I feel like I am trapped in a cycle I cannot break. Every victory is followed by a fall. Every attempt at purity is met with failure. I hate what I do. I hate who I become when I give in. But I cannot hate my way out of this. I need Your power, not my willpower. I need Your grace when I have exhausted my own discipline. So I come to You broken and honest, asking not for judgment but for the power to be different. Break this cycle. Give me eyes that see the spiritual reality of what pornography is doing to my soul. Strengthen me in the moment of temptation. Surround me with accountability and support. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, let me become a new creation — not trying harder but being transformed at my core. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord, I have something to confess, and I am terrified. I am about to tell my wife about a struggle I have hidden. I do not know what will happen to our marriage. I do not know if she will forgive me. I know I do not deserve her forgiveness. But I am choosing transparency over secrecy because I have learned that darkness grows in hiding. Give me the words to explain this without making excuses. Help me to take full responsibility. Prepare her heart to hear difficult truth. Give her the capacity to be hurt without destroying what we have built. And if she is willing, let this be the beginning of real healing — not just stopping the behavior but healing the brokenness that made me susceptible to it in the first place. Guard our marriage. Father, I am taking a step I should have taken long ago. I am entering a program designed to help me break this addiction. I know the program cannot save me — only You can do that — but I trust that You work through community, accountability, and structure. Give me courage to be honest in these meetings. Remove the shame that has kept me silent and isolated. Let me find brothers and sisters in this program who understand the weight of this struggle without judgment. Give the facilitators wisdom to guide this process. Open my eyes to the roots — the loneliness, the insecurity, the anger, the escape-seeking that makes pornography attractive to me. Let the program address not just the symptom but the disease. And as I work the steps, let me encounter Jesus at every turn. Let Him be the source of real healing and the foundation of real change. Lord, I want to be free, but the images are branded into my mind. Even when I am not looking for them, they appear. They intrude during worship, during intimate moments with my spouse, during prayer. It is as if pornography has rewired my brain in ways I cannot control. I do not know how to get clean of these thoughts. I do not know how to think about sexuality in a healthy way anymore. Please heal my mind. Renew my thoughts. Cast out the unwanted mental images that plague me. Restore my ability to think about my own body and the bodies of others with reverence instead of lust. If healing requires professional help, show me where to find it. If it requires accountability, bring people into my life who will help me. If it requires spiritual warfare, I ask You to bind the enemy's influence. But whatever it takes, free me from this. I want my mind back. I want to think Your thoughts, not the thoughts that pornography has implanted. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God, my world has shifted. I discovered that my child is looking at pornography, and I do not know how to process this. I am hurt. I am angry. I am disappointed. I am also scared — scared that this marks my child for a lifetime, scared that I failed as a parent, scared of what comes next. Help me to separate my own emotional reaction from how I respond to my child. Give me wisdom to address this with firmness and love simultaneously. Help me understand what is driving this behavior — is it curiosity, peer influence, loneliness, trauma, something else? Let me not shame my child into secrecy but rather into openness and healing. Guide me in setting healthy boundaries while maintaining our relationship. Connect us with resources and professionals if needed. And heal my child's heart and mind from early exposure to sexual content. Restore their innocence where it can be restored and their hope where it has been damaged. In Jesus' name, Amen.
